West Albany scored three goals in the second half on its home field to defeat Philomath, 3-0, in a nonconference girls soccer match on Tuesday evening.
Bulldogs senior Kristin Krug scored in the 49th and 74th minutes. In between those two, sophomore Jocelyn Lasselle found the net in the 68th minute.
“It was a hard-fought game but we made a few mistakes in the second half and started chasing the game a little bit,” PHS coach Mat Phelps said. “The girls worked really hard and they were a quality team.”
West Albany, a Class 5A school, has now won two straight. Last week, the Bulldogs won on the road over Springfield, 8-0.
The 4A Warriors, which have been playing at less than full strength because of injuries, drop to 1-3.
“We are young still and trying to figure out what works best for us,” Phelps said.
Philomath will host Molalla at 4 p.m. Thursday in the team’s final nonleague match before Oregon West Conference action begins.
