Philomath High School senior Roman Robins is sitting in 10th place through the first day of the Oregon West Conference Championships at Tokatee Golf Club near Blue River.
Robins shot a 46 on the front nine and a 47 on the back for a 93 score. His best stretch of the day occurred when he made par on holes 3 through 6. He also made par on holes 12 and 13.
As a team, the Warriors are in sixth place with a 428. Cascade is positioned to take the team title with a Day 1 score of 329, which is 24 strokes ahead of second-place Sweet Home.
Elsewhere in the Philomath lineup, freshman Corbin Black shot a 109, freshman Conrad Yates had a 110, sophomore Avery Petrovich finished with a 116 and freshman Isaiah Hood shot a 130.
Cascade golfers occupy the top three spots with junior Grant Hemelstrand leading by three strokes with a first-round score of 78. Freshman Garrett Wells follows at 81 and freshman Cru Buckendorf is third at 83.
The tournament continues Tuesday to determine team and individual qualifiers for state.
