Class 5A West Albany took all six matches to hand 4A Philomath’s boys tennis team a 6-0 loss Wednesday on the Bulldogs’ home courts.
The Bulldogs took all four singles positions with the top two matches going three sets. PHS freshman Cameron Barlow pushed junior Gage Penselin before falling 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 1, and senior Nate Houck gave junior Alek Milburn a battle at No. 2 before dropping a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 decision.
West Albany senior Julian Romero defeated freshman Andrew Sims 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3, and junior Brody Harnar downed freshman Lev Grose 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
In doubles, seniors Mason Dodge and Alex Mason dispatched sophomore Samuel Holroyd and freshman Liam Cole 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, and sophomore Landyn Thompson and junior Josiah Hoff were 6-0, 6-0 winners over sophomore Mika Laukkanen Raskauskas and freshman Elijah Arthurs at No. 2.
Philomath is scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Thursday at home against Woodburn.
