Authorities are searching for two women following an early morning shooting on Highway 99W that left one man injured.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near the intersection of Highway 99W and Lakeside Drive at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 call from a local resident reporting that someone had been shot in a vehicle.
According to investigators, the shooting suspect is described as a short Hispanic female with long hair, wearing a long-sleeve black shirt. She was reportedly last seen fleeing the scene on foot with another Hispanic female, heading south of Lakeside Drive and north of Monroe.
BCSO issued an emergency notification to residents in the immediate area, advising them to report any suspicious activity immediately. The public is cautioned not to pick up hitchhikers in the area.
The male victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Officials report he is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released information about a possible motive for the shooting.
