Ronald “Ron” E. Hartz, 84, of Philomath, Oregon, passed away on April 12, 2024. 

Ron was born on February 16, 1940, in Grafton, North Dakota. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.

Ron grew up and went through school in Roseburg. Following his military service, Ron pursued his education at Oregon State University, where he graduated in Business in 1968.

Throughout his career, Ron was dedicated to the real estate industry. He started as a surveyor and later obtained his Broker’s license, eventually founding Philomath Realty, which later became Landmark Realty. His knowledge and passion for real estate were evident in all he did.

In his personal life, Ron was known for his kindness, energy, great sense of humor and his honesty in sharing his opinion. He enjoyed fishing on the North Umpqua River, gardening and sharing his produce with all. During his younger years, he also enjoyed skydiving. He also loved his Schipperke, garage sales and was a true Beaver supporter. Family gatherings, time with friends, trips to the Oregon Coast and winter escapes to Hawaii were among his favorite pastimes.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara; his brother, Norm Hartz; sister, Verna Bailey; niece, Nicole McCormack; nephew, Daniel Bailey; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hartz, and mother, Almira Hartz.

At Ron’s request, there will be no memorial service. His dedication, and love for his family and community will always be remembered.
