U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) will visit Philomath on Aug. 20 as part of his annual statewide town hall tour.

The public meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Philomath High School auditorium. For security reasons, backpacks and large bags will not be permitted.

“I’m looking forward to these town halls in communities large and small because hearing my fellow Oregonians’ opinions and answering their questions are essential to doing my job in the Senate representing all parts of the state,” Wyden said in a press release. “Our country faces unprecedented challenges, and these open-to-all meetings help shape the solutions that Oregonians want for our state and country.”

The Philomath event serves as Wyden’s Benton County stop this year. Other August town halls include Polk County on Aug. 14 in Monmouth, Jefferson County on Aug. 16 in Madras, Josephine County on Aug. 18 in Grants Pass and Clatsop County on Aug. 23 in Astoria.

Wyden has held 1,129 town halls over his career, maintaining his commitment to visit each of Oregon’s 36 counties at least once annually.
