The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory to run from midnight to noon Wednesday for a region of Oregon that includes Philomath.
According to the NWS Portland office, snow is expected late Tuesday through Wednesday with accumulations of up to 1 inch possible in the central and southern areas of the Willamette Valley.
Roads and especially bridges and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous, the agency said. Sidewalks and other surfaces may also be slick so pedestrians are advised to walk with extra care.
The Weather Channel’s forecast for Philomath shows a chance of snow showers beginning at around 11 p.m. Tuesday and continuing off and on through the overnight hours until around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Late Wednesday morning, the precipitation should change from snow to rain with warmer temperatures.
