The Philomath High School volleyball team came at North Marion from all angles Thursday night with players up and down the roster seeing time on the court in a 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 road victory.
Warriors senior Ahnika Tryon, freshman Nora Stanley and junior Ashleigh Brown each had a strong presence at the net with team-high performances. Tryon finished with seven kills, Stanley had three blocks and Brown had 13 set assists.
On defense, senior Clara Stanley finished with 13 digs. At the service line, junior Hannah Bennett had two of the team’s four aces.
PHS coach Autumn Hilberg said the team played well.
“Hannah Bennet served several runs of points,” Hilberg said. “It was a fun game to coach.”
Philomath swept the overmatched Huskies (0-13 overall, 0-8 Oregon West) in both meetings this season. The score was 25-11, 25-10, 25-12 the first time around back on Sept. 26.
“All players saw court time, including Taylor Hudson and Kaylie Kohler,” Hilberg said, referencing swing players that also see time with the junior varsity. “Kaylie had a few killer plays offensively.”
Philomath dominated North Marion at all levels in the Thursday matches. The JV and JV2 squads both won decisively in two-set sweeps.
The Warriors (10-7, 6-2) are scheduled to participate Saturday in the Bend Clearwater Classic and will then get back into conference play Tuesday at Sweet Home. The regular-season finale will be at home Oct. 19 for a Senior Night match against Stayton.
