The Philomath High School girls tennis team made quick work of South Albany on Monday afternoon on the home courts with an 8-0 rout. The Warriors won all eight matches in straight sets against the Class 5A opponent.
Sophomore Bailey Bell and freshman Adele Beckstead had impressive victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles — both winning by 6-0, 6-0 margins. For Bell, it continues an incredible streak of winning all six of her matches this season by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Daniella Carlisle defeated her opponent by a 6-2, 6-2 count at No. 3 singles. Junior Phoebe Dodson switched from doubles to singles for this match and beat her opponent, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot.
In the doubles matches, it was much of the same. The most competitive match appeared to be at No. 1 doubles where sophomores Nadia Durski and Lorelei Schell took a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Sophomores Elise Reese and Megan Reese took down their opponents, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles. Juniors Stella Neville and Dristi Patel posted a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot. Sophomore Abigail Workman and freshman Ava Simmons took care of business at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
The team is scheduled to play again on Tuesday with a trip to Aurora to face North Marion.
