The Philomath High School boys tennis team dropped its first dual of the season Monday on a road trip to 5A South Albany. The RedHawks won three of four doubles matches in what ended up as a 5-3 win over the home school.

Philomath took a win at No. 1 singles, however, with senior Andrew Leonard posting a three-set victory over Aldo Ramirez, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Junior Jackson Rice also won a three-set thriller over his opponent, Michael Franzwa, in the No. 3 singles match by a count of 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

In doubles, Philomath’s victory came in the No. 2 match with junior Jackson Holroyd and senior Osvaldo Garcia-Bazan defeating Cameron Byland and Miguel Orozco Sanabria, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

The Warriors are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against 5A Dallas.
