The next election is now less than a month away and the Benton County Elections Office plans to mail out ballots next week. For those who want to participate by casting a ballot, the voter registration deadline is coming up Tuesday, April 25.

The May 16 special election will include four candidates running for two seats on the Philomath School Board. Ryan Cheeke and Steven King are running for Position 2 while Sandi Hering and Karen Skinkis are running for Position 5

The election will also include the $110 million bond measure that would allow Benton County to move forward with the construction of a new jail and other safety-related facilities as well as an expansion of mental health and homelessness services.

Several fire districts are also holding elections, including three seats on the Philomath Fire & Rescue board. Current members Joe Brier (Position 1), Rick Brand (Position 4) and Daphne Phillips (Position 5) are all running unopposed.
