The Philomath High School volleyball team enters this week with an overall record of 12-7 following last weekend’s appearance at the Clearwater Classic in Bend.
According to results posted on the OSAA website, the Warriors on Saturday in bracket play defeated Caldera, a 5A school out of Bend, in three sets — 25-19, 22-25, 15-9 — before losing to Crook County, 25-20, 25-13.
Details of the team’s appearance were not available.
Philomath gets back into Oregon West Conference play this week with a trip on Tuesday to Newport before a home match on Thursday against North Marion. The Newport match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start while the home appearance is slated to begin at 6 p.m. The team’s seniors will be recognized before the North Marion match.
Cascade (6-0) and Sweet Home (5-1) are currently fighting it out for first place in the conference. Philomath (3-3) is alone in third place and likely headed for a 4A play-in match to try to advance into the state playoffs.
The regular season wraps up next week with the Warriors facing Sweet Home at home on Oct. 18 before heading to Stayton on Oct. 20.
