Vietnam-era veterans in the area will have the opportunity to receive special recognition at an upcoming commemoration ceremony honoring the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
The event will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Suburban Christian Church, located at 2760 SW 53rd St. in west Corvallis.
U.S. veterans who served on active duty in the Armed Forces between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975, regardless of their location around the world, are eligible to receive a special Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin during the ceremony.
The commemorative pin features an eagle representing courage, honor and dedicated service, surrounded by symbolic elements including a blue circle, laurel wreath and stars representing the United States and its allies during the conflict.
The pin’s reverse side bears the message “A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You” as part of the national initiative.
Veterans interested in attending must sign up by Dec. 8 (the original deadline of Dec. 2 was extended). For more information and to register, contact Navy Veteran Wayne King at 304-692-5898 or rw_king@icloud.com.
