The League of Women Voters of Corvallis invites the public to a free showing of “Undivide Us,” an award-winning film that will be screened at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

Through the lens of six focus groups across three American cities, “Undivide Us” explores conversations around divisive topics and uncovers the potential for healing conversation. Using powerful political analyses and intimate conversations with everyday Americans, “Undivide Us” reveals the empathy and tolerance that exist beneath manufactured divisions.

Following the film, which is being shown and discussed in towns and cities throughout the country, attendees will have an opportunity to talk about their responses to “Undivide Us” and whether they think civil conversations are possible between Americans who hold very different points of view.

Organizers of the Sept. 18 screening said the goal of the program is to help community members discover new ways of talking with each other, uncovering the potential for mutual respect and democracy at its best.

LWV of Linn County is co-sponsoring the event. The library in Corvallis is located at 645 NW Monroe Ave.
