A 62-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were both hospitalized Thursday with gunshot wounds following an incident that apparently occurred in Blodgett, according to information released by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Porter Road at 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

“The caller stated he had been shot on his property by a woman who was living at the location,” BCSO said in a news release. “Responding deputies found a 62-year-old male inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.”

The deputies did not find the woman on the property and also discovered that her vehicle was missing. The search for her widened and she was found with her vehicle on Clem Road in Lincoln County.

Said BCSO in the release, “The 57-year-old female had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.”

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing and no other details were immediately available.

“There is no known risk to the public at this time,” BCSO said. “Due to the nature of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time. Updates will be shared to the public as the investigation progresses.”

Assisting BCSO with the investigation is the Benton County Major Crimes Team, which includes personnel from the police departments in Philomath, Corvallis and Albany, and Benton County District Attorney’s Office.
