Two drivers were sent to the hospital with injuries following a head-on collision on Tuesday on Highway 99W, the Benton County Sheriff’s Officer reported.

Deputies were dispatched to the crash at 12:54 p.m. Nov. 1 on a stretch of the highway near Eureka Road.

According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation revealed that a 1999 GMC Sierra pickup traveling north for unknown reasons crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a southbound 1997 Subaru Legacy.

The driver of the Subaru, a 76-year-old woman from Corvallis, and the driver of the GMC, a 75-year-old man from McMinnville, were transported to Good Samaritan Regional Center in Corvallis.

BCSO said the initial conclusion is that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.

Highway 99W was reduced to one lane of travel for approximately four hours with assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Monroe Fire Department, Philomath Fire & Rescue and the Corvallis Fire Department. Philomath’s response included an engine with three personnel.
