One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Friday at the intersection of South 19th Street and Applegate Street, Philomath Fire & Rescue reported.
Capt. Rich Saalsaa, public information officer, said the fire department was dispatched to the crash at 5:58 p.m. on Aug. 5 with a truck and three personnel, a rescue vehicle with two personnel and an incident commander.
Saalsaa said the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center by a Corvallis Fire Department ambulance. The other driver was uninjured and refused evaluation.
Airbags deployed in both vehicles and fluid spilled onto the street, which was cleaned up by Fire & Rescue crews, Saalsaa said.
The Philomath Police Department investigated the crash.
South 19th Street and eastbound Applegate Street were blocked for approximately 20 minutes with traffic rerouted around the scene of the crash.
Also, Fire & Rescue responded at 4:59 a.m. Friday to a reported crash on Bellfountain Road. Saalsaa said that upon arrival, responders found a vehicle off the road in a ditch but no driver was found. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office followed up with an investigation.
