Philomath Academy will hold its first-ever independent spring graduation ceremony on Friday with 20 students earning diplomas. Another 14 students will be recognized for completing requirements for a General Educational Development diploma.

Philomath Academy graduates last year were included in Philomath High’s ceremony. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the PHS auditorium. The academy is in its second year.

A traditional graduation ceremony will make up the program. Philomath Academy math and science teacher Rob Zarfas will give the welcome address to be followed by graduate Sophian Meyner with a student address. Dan Johnson will close with the principal’s address.

Superintendent of Schools Susan Halliday will then present the Class of 2022 and the graduates will accept their diplomas from the five members of the Philomath School Board.

The ceremony is open to the general public.
