Three women lost their lives Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on Highway 99W, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported. The crash occurred at 2:15 p.m. approximately 4 miles north of Monroe.

Deputies reported that an unloaded Kenworth log truck was traveling north on the highway when a 2008 Honda Civic traveling south went into the opposite lane for unknown reasons. All three occupants in the Honda were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The log truck driver, Thomas Boquist, of Tillamook, was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.

Killed in the crash were the driver, Shelene Lenore Parrish, 49, of Junction City; front-seat passenger, Laynette Marie Taylor, 51, of Junction City, Oregon; and left back-seat passenger, Brittany Sue Taylor, 31, of Junction City.

The Benton County Crash Team investigated with help from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Monroe Fire Department and the Corvallis Fire Department.
