Riding a roller coaster of emotion through the ups and downs of a five-set marathon against visiting Sweet Home on Tuesday night, the Philomath High volleyball team came up just short in a home heartbreaker.
The Huskies took the match, 25-15, 25-27, 27-29, 25-19 and 15-13.
Philomath senior Sage Kramer had a team-high 30 kills and seven aces in the match. Senior Reagan Larson finished with 44 assists. At the net, sophomore Ahnika Tryon had one solo block and three block assists.
Besides the Kramer aces, the Warriors also got five ace serves from junior Kori Galvan and four aces from senior Ashlynn Barron.
Libero Taylor Roe, a senior, had 26 digs on defense. Kramer (16), Barron (14) and junior Abigail Brown (11) also hit double digits for digs.
Philomath goes to 5-7 on the season, 4-4 in the Oregon West Conference while Sweet Home improves to 7-4 and 6-2. The Warriors are scheduled to play at home Thursday against Woodburn.
