The Philomath High School softball team ended the season Thursday at Sweet Home with an 11-1 loss in five innings.

The Huskies took control from the beginning with the team’s first seven batters reaching base on five singles and two errors with all of them scoring.

Philomath scored its run in the second inning. Kaylie Kohler hit a one-out single and advanced to third on a Kori Galvan double. Kohler then scored on a passed ball.

Jenae Traglia went 2 for 2 and Mia Bennett was 2 for 3 to lead the Warriors at the plate. Those two hitters accounted for two-thirds of Philomath’s hitting production.

In the circle, Elizabeth Morales-Marquez started and went three innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs and six walks with two strikeouts. Adrianna Hunter threw the fourth and allowed no hits or runs with one walk and no strikeouts.

Sweet Home (8-13 overall, 7-8 Oregon West) had six hits with all of those scattered among six players. The Huskies reached five times on errors and seven times on walks.

Philomath’s season ends at 5-19 overall, 4-11 in conference play.
