The Philomath School Board plans to take votes on its employment contract with Superintendent of Schools Susan Halliday and on a proposed native land acknowledgement during its regular monthly meeting on Thursday.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the conference room at the Philomath School District office (access through a door situated at the back of the building). The proceedings will be livestreamed on the board’s YouTube channel.

The superintendent’s contract issue covers a three-year period up until June 25, 2025. The agreement includes an annual salary of $135,000 for 2022-23 with 1.5% cost-of-living adjustments in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

The native land acknowledgement recognizes and honors the ancestral and occupied lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians and the various other tribes that call the region home.

The meeting agenda also includes a vote on an co-op agreement in athletics with the Alsea School District and a consent agenda that includes several personnel and staffing changes. Several reports will be a part of the meeting, including those from the superintendent, finance director and associations.

An executive session was scheduled to take place prior to the public meeting at 6:30 p.m. to “consider records exempt by law from public inspection.” Executive sessions are closed to the public.
