A concert to raise money for the Tarweed Folk School and Marys River Grange on Sunday will feature Melanie Reid, The Garden Gate and FAM. Those musicians will be on stage from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 8 at Marys River Grange Hall.

Tarweed Folk School offers community-based, hands-on learning to all ages. The school offers classes of various lengths (half day, full day, multiple days) at Greenbelt Land Trust’s Bald Hill Farm, the Corvallis Waldorf School and Highland Woodshop. The classes are taught by local educators, craftspeople, scientists, tradespeople, small business owners  and members of Willamette Valley communities.

Marys River Grange No. 685, organized at Philomath in 1927, serves a membership interested in healthy, local, sustainable, resilient food systems as part of a strong rural community. The organization’s historic building hosts a number of community events.

Admission is $10 at the door. Organizers said the concert is an alcohol-free event and with limited parking suggests carpooling.

Reid performs classic folk rock and bluesy jazz. The Garden Gate features Kailyn Kubiak and Justin Groft, an acoustic folk duo. FAM (From Anotha Mista) is a group that performs “vibrational music.”
