The Philomath High School volleyball team lost its regular-season finale on Thursday night 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 on the road to Stayton.

The Warriors will now await word on its opponent for a play-in match, which will take place at Philomath on or before Tuesday. The winner of the play-in match will advance to the Class 4A state playoffs.

Philomath ended up third in the Oregon West Conference’s final standings with a 6-4 record behind Cascade (10-0) and Sweet Home (7-3). Stayton finished fourth in the standings at 5-5.

The Warriors (15-8 overall) took a three-match winning streak going into Thursday’s action, which included a four-set thriller over Sweet Home earlier this week. The team finished No. 13 in the final OSAA rankings.
