Youth and families will have a chance to gather at Philomath City Park’s skate park after the sun goes down later this month for an evening of food, music and Halloween-season fun.
Jackson Street Youth Services’ Street Outreach team will bring its “Skate Park After Dark” event to Philomath from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The event is free and geared toward youth and young adults ages 10 to 24 along with their families. Burritos from La Rockita and hot drinks will be served, and the evening will also include pumpkin painting, costumes and karaoke. A mobile clothes closet will be on site as well.
Philomath’s stop is one of six Skate Park After Dark events scheduled at skate parks across the Willamette Valley this fall. Promotional materials for the series also list games, arts and crafts, basic needs resources, and visits from goats and llamas. The series is tied to Youth HOPE Month, an awareness campaign whose name stands for homelessness, outreach, prevention and education.
The series opens Oct. 27 in Harrisburg before coming to Philomath two days later. It then continues Nov. 3 in Sweet Home, Nov. 5 in Lebanon, Nov. 11 in Albany and wraps up Nov. 18 in Corvallis. All events run from 5 to 7 p.m.
Jackson Street Youth Services is a nonprofit organization that works with young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties.
