The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday that the body of a deceased man found March 31 in the Willamette River has been identified as 44-year-old James Ernest Donat of Corvallis.

Sheriff’s deputies with the assistance of the Corvallis Police Department recovered the body in a location near First Street and Jackson Street in Corvallis. Investigators were able to identify the man with the assistance of the Medical Examiner’s Office, Oregon State Police Crime Lab, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and several tips from the public.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office thanks the public for the tips they provided to aid in the identification.
