The Philomath School Board plans to meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a work session to discuss safety and security with administrators. The meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Philomath School District office.

The work session was arranged after concerns were aired this summer by staff members within the district, specifically at one of the schools where a threat had been voiced by a parent against an administrator.

Board Chair Rick Wells said in mid-July that he believed “possible missteps” occurred with timing and communication in regards to that incident.

Just this week but unrelated to why the Sept. 17 meeting was called, the school district reacted to a threat to Philomath Academy.

The school district plans to stream the work session on its YouTube channel.
