The Philomath School District’s Budget Committee is seeking community volunteers to fill two open seats. The deadline to apply with the completion of a candidate information sheet is coming up on Thursday, Sept. 30.
Both positions will serve out the remainder of two terms — one through June 30, 2022 and the other through June 30, 2023. Rick Wells filled one of those seats but he has moved onto the School Board and the other seat had to be vacated because the volunteer moved out of the school district.
The typical Budget Committee schedule includes a fall budget work session along with another work session in February. The actual Budget Committee meetings, which usually number one or two, occur in early May to late June and are no longer than two hours in length.
The School Board anticipates reviewing, interviewing and appointing Budget Committee members at its Oct. 21 meeting.
The Budget Committee is made up of the five School Board members and currently includes three community members — Carol Leach, Kimberly Lopez and Craig McDaniel.
