The Samaritan Cancer Program will mark National Cancer Survivors Day on June 7 with free afternoon celebrations in Corvallis and Newport honoring cancer survivors and the people who have supported them.
Both events run from 1 to 3 p.m. The Corvallis gathering moves to a new location this year, the Pastega Regional Cancer Center on the campus of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, 441 NW Elks Drive. The Newport event will be held at the Center for Health Education, across from Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital at 740 SW Ninth St.
Guests can expect food, an art activity, talks from members of Samaritan’s cancer care team and from survivors themselves, and information on community cancer resources.
Doors open at 1 p.m. with food and time to mingle. Talks from the cancer care team and survivors begin at 1:45 p.m., followed by a community resources segment at 2:15 p.m. The program concludes at 3 p.m.
National Cancer Survivors Day is observed around the world as a day for people living with a history of cancer to celebrate milestones and recognize those who have walked alongside them through treatment and recovery.
The event is free and open to all. Registration is encouraged but not required.
