Republic Services will provide curbside pickup of loose leaves every other week on five dates from Oct. 21 until Dec. 16.
Those who want to take advantage of the service can place leaves in the street 1 foot from the curb to allow for rainwater runoff. Leaves should not block catch basins or storm drains. Residents are also asked to not place trash, limbs, branches, grass or other debris in the leaf piles.
Blowing, raking, sweeping or placing leaves in the street other than during the week prior to the Republic Services pick-up date is considered littering.
Pick-up dates are Oct. 21, Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 2 and Dec. 16.
The city of Philomath does not provide leaf pickup but residents can haul them to Public Works (1515 Willow Lane) and dispose of them for free (leaves only, no sticks, branches, bags or trash). The city said the disposal option is for residents only and not a commercial drop site.
Republic Services customers with yard debris carts can dispose of leaves in those containers, which are picked up weekly year round. For more information, click here or call Philomath Public Works at 541-929-3579.
