The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for central and southern Willamette Valley from 4 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Sunday.
The watch reports that heavy mixed precipitation will be possible with total snow accumulations of 1 to 6 inches and possible ice accumulations of up to one quarter of an inch.
“Snow will likely begin Friday evening in the central Willamette Valley but will likely not accumulate on surfaces until later Friday night,” the NWS report states. “Freezing rain may begin Friday night in the southern Willamette Valley continuing through Saturday. Snow and ice amounts as well as the exact location of these hazards will depend on many variables.”
The Philomath forecast for Friday shows cloudy skies with periods of rain and a high of 42 during the daytime hours. The forecast predicts rain and snow in the evening changing to periods of freezing rain overnight with a low of around 25.
On Saturday, the Philomath forecast predicts freezing rain in the morning becoming a wintry mix with a high of 29. Saturday night, a light wintry mix is in the forecast for the evening with clouds lingering late and a low of 18.
