The Philomath Youth Activities Club is registering children for its fall sports programs, which include volleyball (grades 4-8), tackle football (grades 5-8) and flag football (grades 3-4). Registration will close June 28.
Tackle football — Fifth and sixth graders play in the Valley League. Weight limits apply for ball carriers. Seventh and eighth graders play in the school league and are held to academic standards. Teams can expect limited travel across the valley. The season runs from late August to early November. Link to tackle football registration form.
Flag football — PYAC plays in the Valley League in the NFL Flag Football program. Games will be held mainly in Philomath and Corvallis with possible travel across the valley. The season runs September and October. Link to flag football registration form.
Volleyball — Grades 4-6 play in the Valley League and seventh and eighth graders play in the school league and are held to academic standards. All teams can expect limited travel across the valley. The season runs in September and October. Link to volleyball registration form.
Even though fall seventh and eighth grade sports are played through the school league, PYAC does not require physicals from the student-athletes.
Registration forms are also available at the PYAC office (421 S. 19th St.), which is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
In addition to those sports, PYAC and the Philomath High are partnering to offer cheer for youth in grades 4-8. The program will be run by PHS cheer coach Kathy Kohler. Registration will occur later this summer.
