The Philomath Youth Activities Club is accepting registrations for the upcoming basketball season for students in grades 1 through 6, the organization announced.

The deadline to ensure a spot and avoid a late fee is Nov. 19.

The following programs are available:

• Grades 1-2: Boys and girls in the first and second grades will play together, have one weeknight practice and games will be played in Philomath and surrounding areas on Saturdays. Coaches will notify players of practice schedules in late December. The season will start in January.

• Grades 3-4: Boys and girls play on separate teams. Teams practice twice a week and games are held on Saturdays in Philomath and surrounding areas. Coaches will notify players of practice schedules in late December. The season will start in January.

• Grades 5-6: Boys and girls play on separate teams. It is possible that teams may be skill divided at this level, depending on several factors. Teams play in the Valley League (Corvallis, Albany and surrounding areas). Practice starts after Thanksgiving and games are held in the evenings from early January through early March. The team placement clinic for grades 5-6 will be Nov. 22 (10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. for girls and 12:30-1:45 p.m. for boys).

• Grades 7-8: Teams will be organized through Philomath Middle School.

The cost is $100 for grades 1-2, $120 for grades 3-4 and $150 for grades 5-6. Registrations after Nov. 19 will need to pay a $5 late fee and cannot be guaranteed a place on a team.

Players in grades 3-8 are encouraged to attend a Philomath High School camp on Nov. 11. For information, email Coach Blake Ecker at blake.ecker@philomath.k12.or.us.
