The Philomath Public Art Committee plans to meet Thursday for an agenda that includes a final review of the city’s draft Public Art Plan and an update on a new rotating art exhibit program coming to Philomath City Hall.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Philomath City Hall and will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
Committee members will hear from Maxtivity Creative Space for Community Arts Executive Director Sarah Lench about “Small Town, Big Art,” a collaboration that would bring rotating art exhibits to the City Hall’ council chambers. The nonprofit has been in discussions with the city since 2025 about developing and presenting exhibits that showcase artists and give the community a chance to engage with artwork inside a city facility.
City Manager Chris Workman plans to bring the project to the City Council on Sept. 14 and seek direction to negotiate an agreement with Maxtivity for gallery services. No formal action is being requested from the committee at Thursday’s meeting.
The committee will also take up the final draft of its Public Art Plan, which has been in the works over several meetings and now includes recent additions and changes. Members are expected to review the latest edits and, if in agreement, vote to recommend that the City Council approve the plan.
