The city’s Public Art Ad Hoc Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, through videoconferencing.

The committee plans to review vendor proposals related to the Downtown Safety and Streetscapes Project’s sidewalk inlay project. According to the meeting packet, six vendors submitted applications to provide design services.

The project involves large, round, metal sidewalk inserts that will reflect specific themes. The committee chose as general themes to be explored as local indigenous culture, natural landscapes, local forests and wildlife.

The project timeline shows that the committee would like to perform a final review of designs in early April with a recommendation to be forwarded to the City Council. The designs, when approved, would be submitted to the city’s chosen metal fabricator.

Committee members will meet virtually through Zoom. The public can watch a live stream of the meeting on the city’s Facebook page. See the meeting agenda for information about opportunities to comment.

The public art committee’s members include Christopher McMorran as chair, Zina Allen, Ruth Causey, Sallie Deuel, Jen Edwards, Shar Fagersten, Nancy Froelich, Janel Lajoie and Peggy Yoder.
