We are living in a fast-paced world where everything we need or want to do is at our fingertips. We no longer get to ponder and think something through. If we pause, we have already missed out.
So, we have little reminders on our phones that beep and blink, large print calendars to jot down reminders, sticky notes left on the fridge, note pads placed in spots we could not possibly miss, reminder journals with beautiful shades of ink to choose from, and a never-ending plethora of ways to keep us from forgetting, yet somehow we’ve missed the one thing we wanted to do.
Along with that thought are the numerous resources for us to dive into to help us find those things we need to do or want to do. How do we keep up with all this overload?
It is certainly not a one-size-fits-all journey through the resource world and organizational skills that apparently come with it. Finding what works can be daunting and interesting as well. I am remembering the notepad by the phone to take notes for appointments — now we are reminded many times through various messages.
When we shop online, we are reminded we placed the order, then reminded what we purchased, then reminded it’s on the way, then reminded it’s close by, then reminded it’s at our door. What just happened here? Sometimes it feels like we are either bombarded by reminders or left in the wind to remember on our own. We are being reminded to think on our own and take on the responsibility of keeping up with life.
Maybe the bottom line is, find what works best for each of us and remember to do what we love and love what we do. Find joy in those fun moments with friends and family and not worry so much about missing things. There is always tomorrow.
Note your reminder of choice to stop by and check out the Philomath Sensational Seniors Society as we gather at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Maxtivity Creative Space, 1604 Main St., Philomath, for a fun crafting and social gathering.
And, at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Rebekah Social Lodge, 148 N. 13th St., we meet for informational conversations, games, puzzle and book swaps and just celebrating friendships.
Pop it into your schedule using any form of reminder you have and join the fun!
