Oregon State Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the remains of a child discovered earlier this month in rural Lincoln County.

The remains of a female child were found Dec. 10 in a heavily wooded area in the H.B. Van Duzer Forest State Scenic Corridor, which is located roughly 60 miles northwest of Philomath and 22 miles east of Lincoln City on Highway 18.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office estimated the deceased’s age to be 6.5 to 10 years old. She is approximately 3 feet, 10 inches to 4 feet, 6 inches tall, with long hair that is dark brown or black. Her race or ethnic origin has yet to be determined, but DNA analysis has not been completed.

Due to the condition of the remains, officials said she had likely been deceased at least 30 days before she was discovered.

OSP did not release any information related to the cause or manner of death.

Anyone who may have information that could help investigators in identifying the child are asked to call 800-442-0776 or *OSP (*677).
