FRIDAY, MARCH 15
• 8:07 a.m. — Police trespassed a man and woman suspected of stealing from Dollar General.
• 10:55 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a pickup that hit a recycling can and drove off in the 200 block of South 24th Street. A PPD report on the incident listed offenses as failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage and third-degree criminal mischief but did not indicate if an arrest occurred.
Other calls: Police responses included foot patrol at 12:29 a.m. (McCall Way), person assist at 5:15 p.m. (Applegate Street and South Eighth Street), suspicious circumstance at 5:53 p.m. (Main Street), threats made at 7:53 p.m. (South 23rd Street), 911 hang-up call at 10:26 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive) and a mental health situation at 10:44 p.m. (Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted the Corvallis Police Department at the scene of a structure fire at 3:02 a.m. (Southwest Stopp Place). PPD reported 14 traffic stops.
SATURDAY, MARCH 16
• 5:47 p.m. — Police arrested a 21-year-old Philomath woman at the police station on a warrant for failure to appear.
• 9:52 p.m. — Police arrested a 58-year-old Keizer man in the 2500 block of Newton Street on a warrant for failure to appear and a misdemeanor charge of providing false information to a police officer.
Other calls: Police responses included finding a bike at 1:06 p.m. (South 13th Street), city ordinance violation at 8:16 p.m. (North 16th Street and College Street) and a noise disturbance at 9:55 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 12:55 a.m. (Fern Road and Powder House Road). PPD reported 13 traffic stops.
SUNDAY, MARCH 17
• 4:46 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had been damaged while parking in a parking lot. It was unknown who or what caused the damage.
• 9:56 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at a Bellfountain residence on a report of a prowler.
Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 12:50 a.m. (Applegate Street), dog at large at 12:38 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 31st Street), neighborhood dispute at 5:50 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and citizen contact at 9:29 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency at 1:06 a.m. (South 15th Street). PPD reported 13 traffic stops.
MONDAY, MARCH 18
• 7:24 p.m. — Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1300 block of Applegate Street. No arrests were made.
• 8:32 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into the side of the Eco Express Wash laundromat on 14th Street. A 19-year-old Philomath man was cited for operating a vehicle without a license and his older brother, who was a passenger, was cited for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle. No injuries were reported and no specifics were provided on damage to the building.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle at 9:10 a.m. (South 19th Street), report of fraud at 10:38 a.m. (North 19th Street), report of criminal activity at 2:49 p.m. (Starker Place), mental health situation at 5:09 p.m. (Pioneer Street), juvenile complaint at 6:20 p.m. (South 21st Street), dog barking at 6:22 p.m. (Robb Place), report of a runaway at 7:59 p.m. (Timothy Street), mental health situation at 8:26 p.m. (South 19th Street) and a dog barking at 11:35 p.m. (South 15th Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 12:02 a.m. (Southwest 53rd Street, Corvallis) and the Corvallis Police Department at 12:22 a.m. (Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported no traffic stops.
TUESDAY, MARCH 19
• 11:29 a.m. — Police responded to a Main Street gas station for a report of a woman who on March 15 had entered the convenience store, left a backpack and stole a clipboard near the cash register containing fuel receipts. The clipboard was later recovered nearby. The woman never returned to the business for the backpack, which was taken by police as found property. The bag included no identification and contained miscellaneous care items that indicated it belonged to a homeless person.
Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 9:56 a.m. (North Eighth Street) and a dog barking at 11:10 p.m. (South 15th Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 5:01 p.m. (North Eighth Street), welfare check at 6:16 p.m. (Main Street), suspicious vehicle at 7:08 p.m. (South 23rd Street), and a found dog at 7:48 p.m. (Pioneer Street and North Seventh Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
THURSDAY, MARCH 21
• 1:38 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a dog bite in the 1600 block of Applegate Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog at large (South 19th Street and Ash Street), citizen contact at 3:57 p.m. (Applegate Street), noise disturbance at 4:36 p.m. (Houser Lane), dog barking at 10:52 p.m. (South 15th Street) and citizen contact at 11:04 p.m. (McCall Way). PPD reported five traffic stops.

THURSDAY, FEB. 22
• 1 p.m. — Deputies responded to a crash on Highway 34 involving a Chevrolet Silverado with a utility trailer loaded with logs that lost control coming down the hill from Marys Peak Road. Swerving led to a crash into the highway’s south bank, which flipped the pickup. No injuries were reported other than minor cuts. The truck and trailer were towed from the scene.
MONDAY, MARCH 11
• 5:15 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of criminal damage to the Summit Grange, located at 19871 Highway 180 in Summit. The building’s front door was damaged and multiple panes of glass were broken. No items were discovered to be missing. The damage was estimated at $2,500.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
• 11:47 a.m. — Deputies arrested a 28-year-old Corvallis woman on a charge of violating a release agreement while assisting the Department of Human Services on a call on Hoskins road in Blodgett.
FRIDAY, MARCH 15
• 7:39 a.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle blocking Lilly Hill Road. Upon arrival, a Ford Ranger was found stuck in the ditch and blocking the road. The vehicle was towed away and later on, deputies discovered that the truck was reported as stolen out of Clackamas County.
SUNDAY, MARCH 17
• 6:10 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 22-year-old Newport man on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs) and reckless driving during a traffic stop for driving 88 mph in a 55-mph zone on Highway 20 about 2 miles east of Blodgett. The man was cited in lieu of custody and released to a sober driver (Benton County Jail was not accepting inmates).
MONDAY, MARCH 18
• 9:57 a.m. — Deputies responded to the 24400 block of Columbine Drive for a report of a suspicious canister labeled “explosives” that had been discovered during a home inspection. Deputies determined that the canister contained a black powder replacement for muzzleloaders.

FATAL CRASHES
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
• 11:55 p.m. — Troopers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 99E and Southeast Maple Street in Portland that took the life of Krishan Patel, 36, of Douglasville, Georgia. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 43-year-old Milwaukie man driving north on the highway in a Volkswagen Passat struck Patel, who was walking in the fast lane. Patel was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was not injured.
TUESDAY, MARCH 12
• 5:22 a.m. — Troopers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Interstate 5 about 1 mile south of Winchester that took the life of Christopher Zeutzius, 47 of Lakeside. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Ford F-150 driven by a 45-year-old Myrtle Creek man was headed south on I-5 when he struck Zeutzius, who was crossing the on-ramp. Zeutzius was declared deceased at the scene.
MONDAY, MARCH 18
• 10:37 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Roseburg that took the life of Laura Patricia Ash, 81, of Seattle, Washington. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Subaru Outback driven by a 76-year-old Seattle man was headed north on I-5 and was passing a semi-truck driven by a 42-year-old Newberg man while on a sharp curve. The Subaru hit the front left-corner of the semi, which caused it to turn across the front of the truck. The vehicle slid across the travel lanes, jumped over a concrete barrier, rolled down an embankment and came to rest on its roof. Ash was transported to a local hospital and later declared deceased. The driver was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. The truck driver was transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure.
• 2:49 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 19 about 17 miles east and south of Spray that took the life of Louie Warren, 81, of Redmond. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Harley Davidson FXD motorcycle driven by Warren failed to negotiate a corner, left the roadway, traveled down a steep embankment and came to rest on rocks approximately 15 feet below the highway. Warren was declared deceased at the scene.
• 11:45 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 about 6 miles south of Kent that took the life of Jayden Matthew Smith, 23, of Prineville. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Volkswagen Beetle driven by Smit crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck head-on a sem-truck driven by a 36-year-old Tacoma, Washington, man. Both vehicles caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. Smith was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
THURSDAY, MARCH 21
• 12:20 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 about 6 miles south of Klamath Falls that took the life of Scott Lane Nelson, 67, of Klamath Falls. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Ford Econoline van driven by a 44-year-old Klamath Falls man attempted to turn left into a driveway in front of a northbound semi-truck operated by a 51-year-old Turlock, California, man. The vehicle hit head-on with the Ford pushed backward into a Ford Focus driven by a 29-year-old Haquaim, Washington, woman. Nelson, a passenger in the Econoline van, was transported to a local hospital and declared deceased. The van’s driver reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. The semi-truck’s driver was reportedly not injured. The driver of the Ford Focus reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22
• 11:15 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 202 about 2 miles southeast of Astoria that took the life of Alexander Campuzano Luna, 22, of Seaside. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated a westbound BMW 328 operated by Luna left the roadway for unknown reasons, overturned and came to rest upside down in a shallow body of water. Luna was declared deceased at the scene.
