FRIDAY, FEB. 23
• 12:59 p.m. — Police responded to a report from a business owner on Landmark Drive of someone possibly camping in a nearby abandoned building. An investigation led to the discovery of a tent, sleeping bag and firewood but nobody was on site. Police left a business card with a note that warned the individual of trespassing. Police received a phone call from a man who said he thought it was OK to stay there and had fallen on hard times. After apologizing and saying that he would leave immediately, he was provided with a phone number to an outreach center in Corvallis for assistance.
• 1:38 p.m. — Police took a report of sexual abuse at a residence in Philomath and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 12:44 a.m. (South 15th Street), found bike at 3:53 a.m. (Applegate Street and South 19th Street), missing person at 8:03 a.m. (Pioneer Street), citizen contact at 12:36 p.m. (North 13th Street and Main Street), non-911 issue at 6:48 p.m. (Newton Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 8:49 p.m. (North 10th Street). PPD reported 14 traffic stops.
SATURDAY, FEB. 24
• 9:30 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a prowler in the 200 block of South 16th Street. A juvenile was contacted and released to a parent.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 8:39 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious circumstance at 11:18 a.m. (Pioneer Street) and a non-911 issue at 9:56 p.m. (Newton Place). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 7:19 p.m. (Highway 20 and Priest Road). PPD reported 38 traffic stops.
SUNDAY, FEB. 25
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious vehicle at 7:53 a.m. (College Street and North 15th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 3:13 a.m. (Main Street). PPD reported 27 traffic stops.
MONDAY, FEB. 26
• 3:39 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 400 block of South 30th Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a suicidal subject at 10:26 a.m., and a mental health situation at 11:21 a.m. (Neabeack Hill Drive). PPD reported five traffic stops.
TUESDAY, FEB. 27
• 7:45 a.m. — Police assisted Corvallis Police on a domestic violence call in the 2900 block of Northwest Shooting Star Drive in Corvallis. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a person assist at 8:39 a.m. (Jade Place), dog at large at 4:18 p.m. (Pioneer Street and North Seventh Street), found property at 5:01 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a suicidal subject at 9:32 p.m. PPD reported four traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 28
• 1:37 a.m. — Police arrested a 62-year-old Portland man on a warrant for contempt of court during an interaction in the 900 block of Main Street.
• 10:21 a.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 1500 block of Applegate Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included extra patrol at 9:50 a.m. (North 14th Street), illegal camping at 2:57 p.m. (South Ninth Street) and a lost dog at 6:40 p.m. (College Street). In addition, police assisted the Corvallis Police Department on a call at 12:23 a.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis) and another agency on a call at 5:41 a.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a traffic hazard at 12:35 a.m. (Applegate Street and South 11th Street), restraining order violation at 1:24 p.m. (College Street) and a non-criminal issue at 3:37 p.m. (North 19th Street and Main Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
FOLLOW-UP REPORTS
THURSDAY, FEB. 22
• 11:19 a.m. — Police took a report of criminal mischief at Philomath High School’s Clemens Community Pool. An employee upon arrival at 5:30 a.m. discovered an exterior door open and later that morning, found that the door had damage to its handle. The school district’s maintenance department estimated the repair at around $500.

SATURDAY, FEB. 10
• 8:25 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a party in Blodgett that reportedly included minors drinking alcohol. No citations were issued.
• 10:07 p.m. — Deputies pulled over a Toyota 4Runner on Highway 20 about 3 miles east of Blodgett for pulling a camper with no lights and was also dragging its septic tank on the ground. The driver, a 41-year-old Albany woman, said she was moving the trailer for her daughter. The trailer was left on the side of the road and was moved in less than 24 hours.
SATURDAY, FEB. 24
• 7:17 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a crash on Highway 20 near Priest Road involving a motorcycle that hit the back of a pickup. There were reportedly no injuries. The investigation showed that the motorcycle’s operator, a 56-year-old Lowell man, had failed to recognize that traffic had stopped for an emergency vehicle.
TUESDAY, FEB. 27
• 1:24 p.m. — Deputies while patrolling on Woods Creek Road noticed debris down an embankment, which was determined to be a dishwasher. The case was forwarded to BCSO forest patrol.
THURSDAY, FEB. 29
• 12:35 p.m. — Deputies took a report from a resident on North Ninth Street of an unknown person who may have trespassed at his residence.
• 5:24 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on a logging road between Botkin Road and Beaver Creek. A 47-year-old Corvallis woman was driving south when she hit a bump, overcorrected and almost slid over an embankment. The vehicle was able to be pulled back onto the road.
SATURDAY, MARCH 1
• 8:46 p.m. — Deputies responded to an unknown problem at a residence on Wells Creek Road out of a 911 call from an intoxicated 24-year-old Philomath man who became angry at a friend and broke property. After he had been picked up by family members, another incident occurred and he was arrested on a second-degree disorderly conduct charge.

FATAL CRASHES
THURSDAY, FEB. 29
• 8:37 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 9 miles north of Brookings that took the life of Nathan Garcia, 43, of Brookings. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Garcia was driving north in a Toyota Corolla when he reportedly hydroplaned into the southbound lane and spun into the path of a Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 78-year-old Port Orford man. Garcia was declared deceased at the scene. The Dodge Ram’s driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
• 10:02 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 about 6 miles south of La Pine that took the lives of Elise Adair Farrens, 37, of La Pine, and a 23-year-old La Pine woman’s unborn child. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a semi-truck driven by a 34-year-old St. Petersburg, Florida, woman was headed south when she lost control and jackknifed in the roadway. The truck spun and crossed into the path of a northbound Honda Pilot, driven by Farrens, who was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Honda, the 23-year-old pregnant woman, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries and suffered the loss of her child. The truck driver reportedly suffered minor injuries.
