DAILY REPORTS

FRIDAY, FEB. 2

• 9:37 a.m. — Police responded to a crash at Main Street and 19th Street involving a passenger car and a dump truck. The driver of the car was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The dump truck’s driver was not injured. See separate story.

• 11:36 p.m. — Police arrested 33-year-old Salem man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop in the 800 block of Main Street.

Other calls: Police responses included person assist at 10:56 a.m. (Main Street), theft at 11:41 a.m. (Applegate Street), fraud at 4:15 p.m. (North 14th Street) and threats made at 4:15 p.m. (North Eighth Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 2:11 p.m. (Pioneer Street) and 5:54 p.m. (Highway 20 and Highway 34). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, FEB. 3

• 5:10 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an assault in the 700 block of Main Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 3 p.m. (Blodgett). PPD reported 11 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, FEB. 4

• 3:46 p.m. — Police responded to a report of bicycle theft in the 100 block of North Eighth Street. A white BMX bike valued at $150 was reportedly taken sometime during the night.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 1:20 p.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported 26 traffic stops.

MONDAY, FEB. 5

• 1:30 p.m. — Police responded to a situation in the 1700 block of Main Street involving a man suspected of shoplifting being trespassed from a store.

Other calls: Police responses included extra patrol at 12:40 p.m. (Pioneer Street and Coastal View Drive) and a non-911 issue at 2:43 p.m. (Maple Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

TUESDAY, FEB. 6

• 10:58 a.m. — Police responded to a report of someone living in a travel trailer at the end of Landmark Drive. Police located a trailer on private property with no indication that anyone was living in it.

• 1:18 p.m. — Police assisted with a situation in the 500 block of Main Street involving a man who needed to be trespassed from a restaurant.

• 8:02 p.m. — Police responded to a city ordinance violation involving the need to contact an individual and trespassing him from two gas stations on Main Street.

Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 11:17 a.m. (Cedar Street), 911 hang-up call at 1:15 p.m. (Main Street) and a 911 hang-up call at 4:09 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 3:54 p.m. (North 19th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 7

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 1:57 a.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Technology Loop, Corvallis), extra patrol at 7:46 a.m. (Ash Street and South 17th Street), trespass at 8:16 a.m. (Main Street), welfare check at 2:26 p.m. (Main Street) and theft at 3:43 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 12:46 p.m. (Highway 34). PPD reported four traffic stops.

THURSDAY, FEB. 8

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included foot patrol at 12:03 a.m. (Main Street), extra patrol at 12:28 a.m. (Landmark Drive), threats at 9:04 a.m. (South 23rd Street), parking complaint at 9:20 a.m. (Newton Place), suspicious vehicle at 4:21 p.m. (Applegate Street), non-criminal issue at 11:20 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and an open container at 11:36 p.m. (Southwest Technology Loop and Southwest Research Way, Corvallis). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JAN. 27

• 8:43 a.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a logging yarder that rolled over the bank at Wild Rose Quarry east of Kings Valley Road in Wren. An investigation determined that the front drive line on the yarder broke, which controls the steering, and caused the equipment to drive over the embankment. The operator, a 55-year-old Alsea man, was extricated and transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with numerous injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. See separate story.

SUNDAY, JAN. 28

• 9 a.m. — Deputies responded to a report of dogs found in Blodgett near Harris Road and Tum Tum Road. The dogs were transported to Heartland Humane Society.

THURSDAY, FEB. 1

• 1:30 p.m. — Deputies responded to Chapel Drive and South 13th Street for a possible road rage incident that had occurred just before noon. A motorist reported that a log truck had forced him off the road for no apparent reason. A witness also called to report the log truck tailgating and driving recklessly. The driver of the log truck had not been identified.

• 6:03 p.m. — Deputies responded to a Hidden Valley Road residence for a report of a dog bite. The dog was placed on a 10-day quarantine in the home.

FRIDAY, FEB. 2

• 11:17 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 27-year-old Albany man on a warrant out of Linn County for failure to appear and driving while suspended during a traffic stop in a parking lot on South 14th Street. The man was cited in lieu of custody. 

THURSDAY, FEB. 8

• 11:06 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 44-year-old Albany man on warrants out of Benton County and Lebanon during a traffic stop on Main Street.

Oregon State Police

FATAL CRASHES

• 4:19 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 203 about 14 miles northeast of Baker City that took the life of Dennis Leon Brock, 61, of Baker City. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Brock left the roadway for unknown reasons and overturned. The driver, who was ejected during the rollover, was declared deceased at the scene.

MONDAY, FEB. 5

• 4:38 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 42 about 2 miles west of Bandon that took the life of Brycen James Creamer, 20, of Coos Bay. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Creamer was driving a Honda Civic west on the highway when he lost control while negotiating a curve and crossed into the opposite lane, sliding sideways into the path of a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 52-year-old Myrtle Point woman. Creamer was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Toyota was transported with serious injuries to a local hospital.
