The Philomath High School wrestling team got in some matches on Wednesday at Taft with an informal dual. The Warriors won 16 of 23 matches with no team score kept.
Six PHS wrestlers were unbeaten with Blake Niemann, Chase Ringwald, Caleb Blackburn, Blaise Pindell and Issiah Blackburn all going 2-0. Connar Kohn had just one opponent.
Niemann won on pins in 3:50 at 120 and 1:10 at 126. Ringwald wrestled twice at 126 and won both on pins in 1:14 and 3:02. Caleb Blackburn had two victories at 138 with pins at 1:22 and 1:40.
Pindell wrestled both of his matches at 182 and won on a pin in 1:18 and on a major decision at 10-1. Isaiah Blackburn won on a pin in 1:32 in a 195 bout and defeated an opponent at 220 with a pin in 1:47. Kohn’s win came in a 220-pound bout with a pin in 1:48.
Elsewhere on the team, Jake Williams won two of three bouts at 170 with the victories coming on a pin in 30 seconds and on a technical fall of 17-1 with the match stopped at 5:22.
Other victories were turned in by Ben Hernandez at 120 (pin, 1:01), Gradin Fairbanks at 145 (pin, 1:47) and David Griffith at 160 (pin, 1:13).
The wrestling team is scheduled to compete Thursday at home.
