Senior Ellie Morton and sophomores Riley Barrett, Porter Compton and Lake Mulberry each made it through their respective wrestling appearances Saturday unbeaten.

Morton had a dominating performance with three first-period pins at the Dayton Invitational while Barrett, Compton and Mulberry defeated their opponents in a district dual meet at Sweet Home. The boys also sent a handful of wrestlers to the Dayton meet.

Morton has won nine of 11 matches this season, the latest three coming via pins in the 100-105 weight division over wrestlers from Cascade Christian (37 seconds), Nyssa (1 minute, 44 seconds) and Knappa (1:59).

Senior Sadie Francis had a productive meet as well by winning three of four matches and placing second at 110 pounds. Francis won her first three matches on pins to reach the championship match where she came up short against Kennedy’s Kira Boitano.

For the boys at Dayton, four wrestlers had fourth-place finishes — freshman Wyatt Barrett (132), junior Cameron McConnell (138), sophomore Liam Bennett (150) and sophomore Derick Kohn (215).

Meanwhile in the duals meet, the Warriors posted victories over Cascade (45-36), North Marion (57-22) and Cottage Grove (48-30).

Mulberry was the lone unbeaten wrestler to appear in all three duals with two of his wins coming on pins. Competing at 215, his victory against North Marion came on a 10-4 decision. Compton at 138 defeated his opponents on a technical fall and pin. Barrett, still unbeaten in Oregon matches this season, defeated his two most-recent foes at 150 on early second-period pins.

Barrett also represented Oregon Saturday night at a dual against a Japanese all-star team in Harrisburg. Barrett went the distance against his opponent in a 10-1 loss by decision. Coach Troy Woosley said it was a great honor for Barrett to participate.

Also in the duals meet, junior River Sandstrom (113), junior Ryder Zitlau (157), junior JJ Lewis (175), sophomore Ben McGovern (190) and junior Brady Russell (285) won two of their three matches. Sandstrom, Mulberry and Russell provided key team points in the close team win over Cascade.

Freshman Odin Compton (120), sophomore Brayden Williams (126), sophomore Lukas Hernandez (132) and Jonathan Doig (165) posted at least one win on the day.

Philomath wrestlers are scheduled to compete Friday and Saturday at the Oregon Classic in Redmond and Saturday at the Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational in Florence.
