The Philomath High School boys and girls swim teams warmed up for the season on Tuesday in the home pool with a dual against Stayton.
For the boys, the visiting Eagles had just one swimmer, senior Mason Luna, and he won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle. In all of the other events, Philomath was swimming against itself.
Winning performances for the Warriors included junior Carrson Hirte in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.00), 100 backstroke (1:05.12) and legs on the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Junior Kellen Houchin took first in the 100 butterfly (1:21.78).
Joining Hirte on the 200 medley relay were sophomore Henry Katsikis, Houchin and junior Micah Matthews (2:04.00) and the other three on the 200 freestyle relay were Matthews, senior Braedon Littrell and Houchin.
The winning 400 freestyle relay included Katsikis, freshman Emmitt Gaskey, sophomore Marshall Morrison and Littrell (5:01.04).
In the girls’ portion of the dual, Stayton took first in 11 of 12 events. PHS junior Emma Holden was the lone swimmer in the 500 freestyle and came in with a time of 7:48.90.
