Philomath High School senior Brooklynn Campbell earned a $5,000 scholarship courtesy of NW Natural to pursue a career in welding through Linn-Benton Community College.
Campbell will be enrolled in LBCC’s Career Technical Education program, which provides students with training and skills to enter in-demand trades. NW Natural, an Oregon-based utility company, commits to providing at least one scholarship each year to an incoming LBCC student who will be entering the program.
“Linn-Benton Community College is at the forefront of connecting students with high-demand trades in the mid-Willamette Valley,” David Van Der Haeghen, NW Natural’s community affairs manager for the area, said through a press release. “We are thrilled to award these scholarships to such deserving students, who have demonstrated a commitment to their education and communities.”
NW Natural also awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Crescent Valley senior Gabe Thogmartin.
The scholarships were awarded during a ceremony on CTE Signing Day at LBCC’s Albany campus.
