Dylan Smith, a 2025 Philomath High School graduate, has been accepted into the Undergraduate Certificate in Sales Excellence Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Smith, a sophomore majoring in agricultural economics, was among students from 11 majors and three colleges selected for the competitive program offered through the College of Business’s Center for Sales Excellence.

The program aims to develop communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills valued by employers. Students must submit a resume and statement of interest and maintain a minimum GPA to gain admission.

“We’re excited to welcome these students into the program and know they are bound to do great things,” Chad Mardesen, interim director of the Center for Sales Excellence and associate professor of practice in marketing, said through a press release. “Companies recruit here because they know our students have the skills to succeed, and many of these students are sophomores, giving them time to fully engage in internships, competitions and networking.”

According to the university, nearly all program participants secure full-time positions before graduation. Recent employers have included Dell, Deloitte, Gallup, HubSpot, Mutual of Omaha, Oracle, Union Pacific and Walt Disney Co.

Founded in 2013, the Center for Sales Excellence has been recognized as a top university program for professional sales education by the Sales Education Foundation every year since 2014.
