Philomath High’s girls tennis team won two out of three matches Tuesday on its home courts in a dual against Riverdale, a 3A school out of Portland.

In singles, foreign-exchange student Cecilia Milesi posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Stella Gatziolis. Riverdale junior Nina Rinard downed Warriors junior Lucy Thomas in the other singles match.

Junior Clara Neville and senior Lucy King won their doubles match over a pair of Riverdale sophomores, 6-1, 6-0. An exhibition doubles match was also played (the Mavericks used players that had already played in official matches) with junior Isabelle Norman and sophomore Cambria Braudrick winning, 6-4, 6-2.

Philomath’s girls are scheduled to host Junction City at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The PHS boys hosted Sweet Home for an exhibition match that had been arranged. Freshman Lev Grose (8-6) and freshman Jovi Tavano (8-2) posted victories in singles. The Warriors won three doubles matches with sophomore Samuel Holroyd and freshman Liam Cole (8-1), freshmen Andrew Sims and Cameron Barlow (8-0), and seniors Lane Schell and Nate Houck (8-2).
