The Philomath High School girls soccer team posted a victory over Taft on Thursday in what had been scheduled to be a road game for the Warriors. But the team didn’t make the trip with the Tigers announcing that they were forfeiting the contest.

Although there was no contest, the forfeit counts on both teams’ records. The Warriors go to 8-3-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the Oregon West Conference while the Tigers drop to 2-9 and 1-6.

Philomath defeated Taft, 9-0 in a mercy rule match back on Sept. 29.

The Warriors are scheduled to take the home field at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with Cascade coming to town. The Cougars beat Newport, 2-0, Thursday to improve to 7-4-1 and 5-2.

Philomath is sitting atop the league standings by a half-game over Stayton. The Warriors are at No. 12 in the OSAA rankings.
