The Philomath High School girls soccer team finished a perfect run through the Oregon West Conference’s pandemic-shortened season with an 8-0 rout over Cascade on Saturday.

Playing on Crescent Valley’s field — Philomath’s home away from home this spring season — the Warriors dominated from start to finish with four goals in each half. Philomath finishes 8-1 during the regular season, the lone loss coming in the opener against 5A Crescent Valley. The Warriors were unbeaten against OWC and Class 4A opponents.

The team is expected to play this coming week in a state playoff organized by 4A schools (the Oregon School Activities Association is not hosting postseason events). As of Sunday morning, pairings for a tournament had not been announced.

In the win over the Cougars, seven of the eight goals were scored by seniors — Braedyn McNeely (fifth, 43rd minutes), Alivia Pittman (15th, 30th minutes), Kaili Saathoff (42nd, 43rd minutes) and Mia Rust (35th minute).

Sophomore Elizabeth Morales scored the team’s eighth goal in the 70th minute.

McNeely had four assists in the victory. Rust, senior Lily Schell and sophomore Izabella Nanoski also had assists. One of Pittman’s two goals was unassisted.
