On the strength of two top-six individual finishes, the Philomath High School girls golf team finished runner-up in a Stayton-hosted meet Monday at Santiam Golf Club in Aumsville.
Junior Isabelle Muir and senior Kynlee Albin both shot rounds of 94 to tie for sixth place in the individual standings. Albin came out with a 45 on the front 9 before finishing with a 49 over the back 9. Muir was just the opposite with a 49 and 45.
Senior Anneka Steen shot an even 100 and finished 16th. Rounding out the varsity results were junior Shaylee May at 112 and senior Sophia Bauer at 134.
In the nine-hole junior varsity competition, senior Ashleigh Brown finished first with a 49.
The next meet on the schedule for the Philomath girls is coming up April 28 at Salishan Golf Links in Gleneden Beach for an event hosted by Taft.
