Senior Mike Lundy scored 21 while junior Cole Matthews and sophomore Chad Russell each added 12 in Philomath High’s 55-48 victory Friday night at Sisters.
The Warriors ended a three-game losing skid with the victory and improved to 6-3 on the season. Philomath will end the regular season with three straight home games next — Tuesday vs. Stayton, Wednesday vs. Newport and Friday vs. Sweet Home.
The Warriors got off to a good start with a 16-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Three-point goals played big in the early offensive spurt with Dillon Olson burying two and Lundy and Matthews each hitting one.
Sisters stayed close in the second quarter and trailed the Warriors by eight at the break.
Philomath steadily built a cushion in the third quarter with a 38-26 advantage going into the final 8 minutes. Sisters had its best stretch of the game in the fourth but could not catch Philomath.
Fouls were an issue for both teams in the second half. The two sides combined for 24 fouls over the third and fourth quarters. The Warriors hit 16 of 23 free throws in the game.
Lundy had seven field goals, including two 3-pointers, and hit 5 of 7 free throws for his 21 points. Matthews had two fields, one a 3-pointer, and 7 of 10 free throws for 12. Russell scored his 12 on five field goals and 2 of 3 free throws.
Camden Froehlich scored 16 points to lead Sisters (2-9).
